It's my gotcha day!

Exotic shorthair Chester here! Hey - it's my gotcha day! A year ago today, I flew on an airplane from Nashville and then arrived at my new furever home in New York City!

One of the things I like to do in my new home is give my mommy and daddy lots of licks! I made a video a couple of weeks ago where I lick my mommy.

(Don't worry - I don't bite; snapping my jaws is just my way of communicating when I've had enough!)

Today is my birthday!

Chester here! Today is my birthday and I'm 5 years old. I'm not used to celebrating my birthday but mom and dad are pretty excited because (as mom tells it) it's my first birthday with them and it also leads up to Father's Day and then my gotcha day. Wow - that's a lot for one week!

The only thing I really want for my birthday is not a thing but a "to" - I want to play! I sleep all day and am ready at night to play - but mom and dad aren't always excited to play at night. I don't understand this. So for my birthday (weekend) I really want to watch and chase shadows (oh boy, I'm getting excited even thinking about shadows).

In July of 2011, my mom and dad went to a big cat expo in New Jersey and picked up a few toy wands for me. Mom started using one of the wands to get me to scratch on my scratching post. As strange as it seems now, I used to ignore my scratching post - I didn't know what it was for! When mom put the wand next to or on top of  the scratching post, I thought she wanted me to do tricks!

Chester here. Mommy remembered that her sister wanted her to post videos of Chester. Aunt Steph doesn't care what the videos look like but mommy thought one of the videos was too long. So, she went to YooToob and did stuff to it. And lookit - a new video of me!

I have a YooToob page if you want to see other videos of me. Mom wanted me to mention that most of them are like "home moovees".

Chester here. Mommy has been very busy. She came home late from work last night - I was so happy to see her! - but then she left again to go to the gym. I'm not sure what she does there - maybe they have people-sized scratching posts and larger toys on wands to chase! 

She thought it would be a good idea to put another video on my blog because she's still busy. Today she and daddy have to go to Queens, New York for Passover. I'm not sure what that is but it involves eating fish so it must be something good!

After we made my first fleecy blankie video, mommy felt bad. She thought that she had to explain herself and she made *another* video of me and my fleecy blankie. She's so funny - she still doesn't get that a lot of what I do is to train her. It's very confusing for me but she seems to be learning!

Boy - do I love fleecy blankies! I have quite a collection in my new home. 

My first one is square and white and belongs only to me. 

The other two I have to share:

a big blue one with a football helmet and the word "GIANTS" on it

 and a brown one with sleeves with the word "SNUGGIE" on it
